Out at the Zoo is a family-friendly weekend, running from the 8th to 9th of March, full of fun activities for our rainbow communities and wider allies.
The theme of Out at the Zoo is ‘celebrating the diversity of the living world – across both animals and people!’
There’ll be a range of activities over the whole weekend, including performers, face painting, rainbow-themed snacks and more!
We can’t wait to celebrate the Wellington Pride Festival with our fabulous community, and continue our commitment to creating a safe and welcoming environment for members and allies of Aotearoa’s rainbow communities.
Accessibility
Caregivers of disabled persons are given complimentary entry to the Zoo upon presentation of suitable supporting documentation or identification.
We have four designated mobility car parks in the Newtown Park car park right next to the Zoo, and one right outside the REX tremendous cafe at the entrance.
Wheelchairs are available free of charge – just ask our friendly Visitor Advisors when you arrive. There are toilets with wheelchair access throughout the Zoo. The Zoo is on a hill, and our Visitor Advisors can show you which pathways are more accessible.
Assistance dogs are welcome at the Zoo but must have proof of vaccination and please be aware that there are some areas they won't be able to visit. Please contact us for more information.
This accessibility map highlights the steep gradients around the Zoo so you can see which pathways are more accessible. You can print this out and bring along with you, or we'll have a copy for you when you arrive.
